This month, we’re sharing the recording and slides from this week’s Moving On Up Network meeting, which celebrated three years of the network and its impact on supporting care-experienced young people. We also highlight opportunities to get involved in National Care Leavers’ Month this November, along with the latest resources, events and opportunities available.

National Care Leavers Month 2026
National Care Leavers’ Month returns this November with the theme, “Leading the Way: From Experience to Empowerment.” The campaign celebrates the strength, leadership and lived experience of care-experienced young people while encouraging organisations to champion meaningful opportunities and support. New Report Highlights Lack of Support
Ashley John-Baptiste and Clare Chamberlain published their report, ‘You really are on your own’: A study of the early deaths of young people who were in care’, which highlights the dramatic drop in support for care leavers when they leave care. Become has published their response, providing support and linking to their #Endthecarecliff campaign.
Personal Advisers Report
A new report from Become explores the vital role Personal Advisers play in supporting care-experienced young people as they transition into adulthood. The findings highlight the positive impact of strong relationships, consistent support and manageable caseloads, while also identifying opportunities to strengthen services and improve outcomes for care leavers. Speaking for Ourselves: Preserving 50 Years
A new three-year project, ‘Speaking for Ourselves’ will preserve and share the history of the care-experienced movement. Led by a majority care-experienced board and Coram, the initiative will create a digital archive and showcase the movement’s impact on children’s rights and social care. Find out more here.
Care Leavers’ Bursary
With the new academic year and apprenticeship starts underway, now is a great time to remind eligible apprentices about the Care Leavers’ Bursary. The bursary provides a £3,000 payment to support care-experienced apprentices. Share the bursary flowchart to help young people check their eligibility and access this valuable financial support.
Accommodation Conference
The National Supported Accommodation Conference will take place on the 24th September at the Vox Conference Venue, Birmingham. Featuring expert speakers, insightful discussions and valuable networking opportunities. The conference will explore key issues and developments within supported accommodation. Book your place here.
Job search support for NEET young people
This upcoming NavigATE webinar on Wednesday 7th October, 6.30pm-7.15pm, is aimed at people aged 18-24 who are not currently in education, employment or training, as well as those supporting them. Attendees will learn about job search support, benefits guidance and opportunities available through Youth Hubs and Jobcentre Plus. Please share the registration link with relevant young people.

Current vacancies for Care Experienced 
The Care Leaver Covenant works with more than 600 organisations to connect care-experienced young people with employment and development opportunities. Partner organisations include Barnardo’s, Amazon, NHS Careers and Intuitive Thinking Skills. Explore the latest vacancies, training opportunities and support available here.
