Summary
AI routing notices when another assistant would answer your question better and suggests switching to it. If you accept, your question is sent to that assistant straight away. You don’t need to type it again.
It is set to Semi-Automatic by default: KnowledgeFlow suggests, and you decide. You can change this for yourself in Settings → AI Routing.
Use Case
Scenario
You are working in PrivateGPT and ask a question about one of your organisation’s policies. PrivateGPT doesn’t draw on your organisation’s documents, so a suggestion appears offering to switch you to a specialist assistant, such as Policy Assistant. You accept, and the specialist assistant answers your question from your organisation’s own material.
Benefits
- Better answers. Questions reach the assistant set up for that kind of work.
- Less guesswork. You don’t need to know which assistant handles what before you ask.
- No retyping. When you switch, your question goes with you.
- You stay in control. You choose whether to accept each suggestion, or change how routing works for you.
Walkthrough
When a suggestion appears
- Ask your question as normal.
- If another assistant is a better match, a suggestion appears naming that assistant.
- To switch, select Switch to followed by the assistant’s name. Your question is sent to the new assistant and answered there.
- To stay where you are, select Maybe later or close the suggestion. Your question is answered in your current assistant.
- Once you have said no, KnowledgeFlow won’t make another suggestion in that chat.
Tip: the assistant name in the bottom-left corner always shows which assistant you are using.
Understand the confidence score
- Each suggestion shows a percentage, for example “98% confident”.
- This is how sure KnowledgeFlow is that the other assistant is a better match for your question.
- It is not a measure of how accurate the answer will be.
Tip: you can hide confidence scores in Settings → AI Routing. They are shown by default.
Change how AI routing works for you
- Open Settings → AI Routing.
- Under Routing Mode, choose one of the four options below.
- Your choice applies only to you. Colleagues keep their own setting.
Routing modes
- Off. No suggestions. You choose assistants yourself from the left-hand menu.
- Semi-Automatic (the default). KnowledgeFlow suggests a better assistant, and you decide whether to switch.
- Fully Automatic. KnowledgeFlow switches for you when it is confident another assistant is a better match. The assistant name in the bottom-left corner changes to show where you are.
- Multi-Step. For questions that need more than one specialist, KnowledgeFlow consults several assistants in turn and brings their answers together. This can take longer than a normal answer.
Tip: Semi-Automatic is the recommended setting. Try Fully Automatic once you are used to which assistant handles what.
Notes
- KnowledgeFlow only suggests assistants you already have access to in your organisation.
- Each user sets their own routing mode. Changing yours doesn’t affect anyone else.
- Confidence scores are shown by default. You can switch them off in Settings → AI Routing.
- The pop-up suggestion calls this feature Smart Routing. It is the same feature.
- You can always switch assistants yourself from the left-hand menu, whatever mode you choose.
