Problem
For families, professionals and senior leaders, having evidence-informed practice is the key to helping keep the most vulnerable children and young people safe as well as improve their chances to succeed and thrive in an increasingly complex world. However, the reality of frontline social work means keeping up with research and information is difficult.
Coram have vast amounts of case studies, data and research from being the leading charity in this space, including: Adoption and Special Guardianship Quarterly Data Collection (ASG) which is a national child‑ and adopter‑level dataset covering every local authority, regional adoption agency and voluntary adoption agency in England, capturing children in the adoption process, children leaving care through special guardianship, and detailed characteristics and key dates for both children and adopters.
Coram wanted to make it easier for people to explore that wealth of experience and best practice guidance, which they have built up from years of investment and research in social care.
Solution
We created an “Innovation Playbook”, a RAG AI solution that enables all staff to use natural language queries to interrogate Coram’s extensive library of information. The Playbook makes complex information easy to find and understand, supporting evidence-informed decisions at every level of the organisation. Staff can confidently find and share accurate, up-to-date information, ensuring consistency and quality across services.
Outcome
The Innovation Playbook transformed Coram’s ability to harnesses its expertise, making best practice truly accessible and actionable for everyone. The Innovation Playbook gives free, always-on access to Coram’s verified information; unlocking best practice information however short people are on time.
